Good Lovin’ Mix Breakdown:
1) Tighter low end frequencies – The bass and kick occupy their place as the anchor of the song without overflowing and masking other elements (or each other!)
2) Clear mid-range – The vocals, the snare, and the guitars are what drive the character and vibe of the song. They are present, balanced, and clear. Each element occupying it’s own space.
3) Energetic stereo image – strategic panning, processing, and automation decisions create an exciting shift moving from the verse to chorus. Quieter sections pull back slightly in intensity and into the center of the stereo image, while the choruses and the guitar solo in the bridge open up and pulse with added energy.
4) Everything feels cohesive and “glued” together – Gentle, yet surgical mix bus processing makes the vocals and instruments seem to play off of each other as if the band were actually performing on stage rather than recording separately in a studio (which is what they did!)

A Bit About Me:
Hi I’m Andrew!
I grew up surrounded by music. My dad played the saxophone all his life, my mom sang, and me and all my siblings grew up participating in school choirs and playing guitar on our church worship teams. That was where I first began to fall in love sound engineering but had no idea that it would someday become my profession.
My Experience
- 2 years – Formal audio engineering training including: acoustics, radio broadcast, sound recording and post-production for film, and music production from recording to mixing, and mastering.
- 10 years – Front-of-house mix engineer for a house of worship
- 7 years – As a professional music studio in-house recording and mixing engineer
